| Gilbert has been missing since January 25, 2005. We are devestated... we keep hunting for him... now I just want his body so we can bury him by the barn... I'll keep searching. (We hope he still makes it home!) Don't be sad for Gilbert... he was the happiest dog in the world. Saved from death row at the pound 10 yrs ago he became a beloved family member. He rode with me EVERY step of the way. He would see me throwing a saddle on and rush over and start barking till I mounted up and off we went. He just loved hunting and I am SURE he died doing what he loved... probably snake bit (which he lived thru a snake bite about 6 months ago). I told my husband years ago that he would be lucky to make it a year out in those woods but he made it 10 years. He was featured on www.barrelhorseworld.com when that site first started. Gilbert was hit by a car and broke his back. We spent a $1000.00 on his medial and rehab and then $1.50 a day on maintence drugs thereafter. BHW ran a short story on Gilbert's accident just to fill space on the home page... it was his 15 minutes of fame! He was scrapy, loyal, protective, loving, happy and obedient... our best dog friend... we will MISS you Gilbert!  |
